Selection Exams
To be eligible for selection to the National Olympiad Finals, students must write at least one of the following examinations:
The Canadian Association of Physicists (CAP) High School Prize Exam
The CAP exam is prepared in cooperation with the Canadian Physics Olympiad program and is the principal method by which students are screened for invitation to the National Physics Olympiad Finals. All high schools and CÉGEPs in Canada are notified of this examination by the CAP in the spring of each year. It is a fully bilingual examination which usually takes place around mid-April. The Chemical Institute of Canada (CIC) Canadian Chemistry Contest
The CIC and the Canadian Chemistry Olympiad program coordinate their efforts to allow the CIC exam to be the principal method by which students are screened for the National Chemistry Olympiad Finals. The format of the exam allows students to compete for CIC prize standing and/or be competitive for the Olympiad program. All high schools and CÉGEPs in Canada are notified of this examination by the CIC in the spring of each year. It is a fully bilingual examination which normally take place in the latter half of April.
